ℹ️ BMI Classification
What is BMI?
Body Mass Index is a simple weight-to-height ratio used to screen for potential health problems, though it doesn't directly measure body fat.
WHO Weight Categories:
BMI Range | Category | Health Risk |
---|---|---|
< 18.5 | Underweight | High |
18.5–24.9 | Normal | Low |
25–29.9 | Overweight | Moderate |
30–34.9 | Obese I | High |
35–39.9 | Obese II | Very High |
≥ 40 | Obese III | Extremely High |
BMI Limitations:
- Doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat
- May underestimate fat in elderly
- May overestimate fat in athletes
- Doesn't account for fat distribution
Note: BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnostic. Consult a healthcare provider for individual assessment.
